Our top Christmas picks at Port Sunlight Museum’s shop
28 Nov 2024
The lovely team at Port Sunlight Museum’s shop have made an early start on their Christmas shopping. To give you a bit of festive inspiration, here’s what they are treating their loved ones to.
Jan’s picks
I’m choosing a braided basket by the Braided Rug Company for my sister; I know she’ll love the pretty pastel colours and find it really useful for storage. I’m planning to load it with some lovely stocking fillers such as Sunlight Bees’ honey and The Chocolate Cellar’s delicious ‘bags of happiness’.
I find men can be difficult to buy for, but I’m delighted with the three pairs of Catherine Tough recycled lambswool and silk socks I have bought. A different colour choice each for my husband and two sons. They will love their cosy toes at home, but they also love countryside walks and they’ll be perfect for hiking on a crisp winter’s day.
I always have a few extra presents to buy for my lovely neighbours and friends of the family, and I have my eye on one of two items by Three Trees Candles Co – I love the creamy white colour and the sculpted shapes. They will look perfect on anyone’s Christmas dinner table.

I’m so happy I’ve got all my presents bought early this year. No last-minute rush for me! For my wonderful Gran, I have picked a book called The Garden Apothecary – I know she will enjoy discovering the different recipes and remedies in this book using a wide variety of different plants from her garden. I’ve also got her a Port Sunlight 2025 Calendar as she loves the village and the photographs are so good, plus it will last her the whole year. For Christmas Day, I know a new Port Sunlight tea towel featuring a vintage advert will bring back good memories for her.
For my brother I’ve chosen a Peaky Blinders cocktail recipe book. Hopefully he will take the hint and try out some of the recipes on Christmas Day. For my two nephews, I’m sure they will get a big laugh out of the Tin of Bath Spaghetti and Can of Worms. Finally for my dad, I’ve got a bone china mug with a Lever House design together with some Sunlight Bees’ delicious fudge, because I already know he loves it.

I am so pleased with my recent Christmas shopping buys from Port Sunlight Museum shop. I’ve managed to tick a few people off the list already. For my sister I have bought some lovely Gardeners Grapefruit Hand Cream and matching Gardeners Bar of soap. My sister loves her garden and I’m sure she’ll love to come in after a few hours work and treat her hands to these lovely products. There is a lovely festive robin on the very pretty packaging and she will love that too.
I’ve found a fantastic Art Deco inspired tote bag for my daughter, as she loves all things vintage, and the design printed onto both sides of this one shows off the fabulous Port Sunlight Museum where I work.
For my husband (and, to be honest, for me too) I have chosen a fabulous book all about William Morris. It is absolutely packed with beautiful colour illustrations of many of his famous textile designs. Our house is decorated with William Morris wallpaper as we are both big fans of the Arts and Crafts style, so this coffee table book will be a beautiful addition to our sitting room.
Port Sunlight Museum’s shop is open Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-4.30pm. This festive season, we’re also open Monday 23 December, Monday 30, New Year’s Eve (11am–4pm) and New Year’s Day (11am–4pm). Closed 24-26 December.
