Statement regarding a potential data breach of Beacon CRM

Port Sunlight Village Trust has been informed of a potential data security incident affecting our CRM database provider, Beacon, which we use to manage our donors and supporters.

On Monday 3 August, Beacon notified us that an unauthorised person had gained access to its systems using compromised credentials. Beacon has advised that copies of its database backups were likely downloaded and that all information stored within customer databases could potentially have been affected.

Some personal information relating to our donors, supporters and other contacts are stored in Beacon, which includes names, email addresses, telephone numbers, and postal addresses. Importantly, it does not include any bank account information or payment details.

Beacon’s investigation is ongoing, and it has not yet confirmed exactly which individual records were accessed. We appreciate this may be concerning, however we have been assured that Beacon’s platform is safe to use and you can continue to make donations. Your donations help us continue our important work to look after Port Sunlight, so we appreciate any support you can give – if you would prefer to donate another way, you can do so in-person at Port Sunlight Museum or through our separate website here.

We would recommend being alert to any unexpected emails, phone calls or messages that ask for personal information. We take the security of personal information extremely seriously and will share any further updates from Beacon while its investigation continues. If you have any specific questions, please contact fundraising@portsunlightvillage.com

Thank you for understanding and continued support.
