Take a bite of Bala Croman’s incredible story of how she transformed a dream into The Chocolate Cellar, a thriving business based just around the corner in New Ferry.
“I started making chocolates as a hobby after being inspired by the book Chocolat. After fabulous feedback from friends and family, I decided to start selling the chocolates at the local farmer’s market. The hobby turned into a little obsession. Everything in the kitchen kept getting covered in chocolate, so I converted our cellar into a secret little chocolate factory. Before we knew it, the hobby became a full-time business… the name came from where I was making chocolate!
Over the years, The Chocolate Cellar has moved from my home to Birkenhead, to Liverpool, back to home and now we have a little space in New Ferry, just outside the village, where I have a little chocolate making unit and a small shop front. From here, we run our online shop, supply to other shops and also run chocolate making workshops for children and adults, for birthdays, hen parties and team building. As a resident of Port Sunlight, I am very honoured to be supplying the museum shop with our handcrafted chocolates. I hope you enjoy eating them as much as we enjoy making them.”
