Rare chance for new Trustees to join and help shape the future of one the UK’s most unique heritage sites
23 Oct 2025
Port Sunlight Village Trust is calling on passionate individuals to help shape the future of one of the UK’s most unique heritage sites. As custodians of one of the world’s finest surviving industrial worker villages, we are seeking new Trustees to join our Executive Board and support our mission to preserve, promote, and evolve this unique community.
For over 25 years, we have cared for Port Sunlight’s historic buildings, landscapes, and museum, while celebrating the stories of its people, together with being a residential and commercial landlord with a commitment to positive community engagement. With bold plans for the development of the charity and the village, this is a pivotal moment to get involved.
Andrew Bowden, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Port Sunlight Village Trust, said: “Our Trustees play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of our charity, helping to create a place that is environmentally sustainable, socially vibrant, and culturally rich. From supporting learning programmes and research to engaging with residents and visitors, this is a rare chance to be part of something special and help ensure Port Sunlight continues to thrive for generations to come.”
“Who are we looking for? We welcome applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experience and at all career stages. Expertise in areas such as regeneration, landscape management, cultural and visitor destination development, capital projects, data management, and legal affairs is especially valuable.
“This is a chance to grow your skills, expand your network, and help shape the future of a nationally significant heritage site.”
Potential applicants do not need to work in heritage or housing to apply. Enthusiasm, insight, and commitment are just as, if not more, important. We are particularly encouraging applications from underrepresented groups, including people under the age of 34 or 49, individuals with lived experience of disability, ethnically diverse candidates, LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals.
The role is voluntary with reasonable expenses including travel covered. Commitment is part time and will involve attending 4 board meetings per year, 2 away-days, plus working and advisory group involvement.
The closing date to apply is Friday 28 November, with interviews to be held in early January.
