Port Sunlight Photographer of the Year 2024

Port Sunlight is one of the most photographed villages in the North West of England, if not the UK. To celebrate its unique heritage, landscapes and community, Port Sunlight Village Trust launched the first ever Photographer of the Year competition in 2024. It was judged by award-winning press photographers Bruce Adams and Paul Ellis.

Following some fantastic entries, the 2024 winner is Andrew Crothall’s magnificent photograph of a ‘snowbow’ over Port Sunlight.

The winning photograph features on the cover of a new calendar, with the runners up and a selection of other entries also included. The 2025 calendar is now available to pre-order for just £8, with all money raised supporting PSVT’s work to protect and preserve the village’s important monuments, including the much-loved Boating Pond.

“I am delighted to have won the Port Sunlight Photographer of the Year 2024 competition. The village is a beautiful place and there are always photographic opportunities, but it is extra special in the snow. However, this doesn’t happen very often so I always rush down to the village first thing in the morning if there has been overnight snow. On this occasion the sky started to clear just after sunrise on a cold January morning and the first rays of sunlight illuminated ice crystals in the atmosphere, creating a rare ’snowbow’ over The Diamond.”
