New Landscapes

As anyone living or visiting in the village will notice, PSVT’s team of gardeners work all year round to maintain and look after the village’s 130 acres of gardens and parks – that’s equivalent to 65 football pitches.

From its picturesque parks to the front gardens of every house in the village, it can be easy to forget just how much PSVT’s gardeners do. Here are a few facts and figures about the work they do to keep Port Sunlight looking beautiful.

  • 1,200 tonnes of garden waste removed each year
  • 34 public bins emptied twice a week
  • Over 4,000 shrub roses cared for
  • Almost 50,000 bedding plants each year
  • Over 9,000 tulip bulbs planted each year
  • 21.5 miles of grass edges cut several times a year, taking two gardeners one month to complete
  • 6 acres of formal lawns and 3 heavily used bowling greens maintained
  • Over 26 acres of open space lawns cut by tractor, taking one gardener two weeks to complete
  • Over 1,400 mature and semi-mature trees surveyed
  • Over 5.5 acres of shrub beds pruned twice a year
  • 2 miles of hedging cut once or twice a year depending on species
  • Around 100 seasonal baskets and containers maintained
  • ¼ of an acre of wildflower meadow cared for
