Opportunity: Project team to support remedial roof works at the Lyceum, Port Sunlight

We’re seeking to commission a Conservation Architect/Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor to support our MEND-funded project at the Lyceum.
The project
Port Sunlight Village Trust has been awarded a Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND) grant to support vital roof repairs to the Lyceum, which is currently home to our SoapWorks learning gallery where our learning programme for schools is based. The Lyceum is a priority capital project in our long-term Strategic Plan, which includes a larger scale ambitious plan to adapt the building into a museum and multi-purpose arts space.
The Lyceum MEND grant programme will deliver essential works to the SoapWorks roof, adjacent areas, and the spire. We also propose to take the opportunity to introduce solar panels. We have designed this scope to be delivered in one single phase whilst scaffolding and access is in place.
Who we’re looking for
We wish to appoint a suitably qualified Conservation Architect (who will also undertake the role of Project Manager/Principal Designer) and a Quantity Surveyor. These are two separate opportunities (see briefs below). The appointed consultants will work closely with each other and wider project team to support delivery of this project. Proven experience of working on large scale heritage projects to tight deadlines is essential.
Timings
The deadline for proposals for both opportunities is 7 August 2026, with clarification interviews to follow on 12 August and contracts awarded on 14 August.
The delivery programme will be finalised when the project team has been appointed, however we expect the project to begin from mid-August, with tender documentation and related works prepared by March 2027 when works will begin.
