Port Sunlight Remembers: Wartime Walking Tour

Starts at Port Sunlight Museum

£15 adult, £10 concession, £5 child

As part of our Port Sunlight Remembers event, step back in time and discover how the peaceful village of Port Sunlight was touched by the events of the First and Second World Wars. Join our knowledgeable guide Mike Wynne, dressed in authentic Home Guard uniform, for a fascinating guided walk through the village’s wartime past.

As you explore Port Sunlight’s historic streets, you’ll uncover stories of local men who answered the call to serve and learn about the impact of war on the Lever Brothers workforce and wider community. Along the way, hear tales of heroism, sacrifice, remembrance and resilience while visiting locations connected to wartime life in the village.

From memorials and military service to home front preparations and wartime defence measures, this engaging tour brings to life the experiences of the people of Port Sunlight during two of the twentieth century’s most significant conflicts.

A must for anyone interested in local history, military history or the remarkable stories hidden within the village.

This event has been supported by Merseyside Art Friends.

Admission to Port Sunlight Museum included. Pre-booking recommended.
